Two Jigs: R. Rummery

Bob got the idea for these jigs “The Dryblower” and “The Old Camp” from reading newspapers and the poetry contained within them published  on the Western Australian goldfields in the 1890’s.  “The Old Camp” in fact refers to the town of Coolgardie, the largest town and administrative centre for many years before the town of Kalgoorlie took over.  The adjacent photograph is of the Coolgardie Post Office built of local stone.  “The Dryblower” was an instrument for separating gold from dirt in waterless country.
